Burial in a national cemetery is reserved for Armed Forces Veterans discharged under other than dishonorable conditions. Veteran benefits associated with interment are provided at no charge and they include a: - Grave space and its opening and closing -Eligibility form. - Headstone or marker -Application. - United States burial flag -Application. - Presidential Memorial certificate -Application.
There are Veteran benefits associated with burial expenses, but contain many strict eligibility requirements and vary depending on whether the cause of death was service related or not service related. These benefits are determined by the Veterans Administration and happens well after a death has occurred. If eligible, a Veteran can receive up to $2,000 and costs for transporting the deceased.
